My interest in dogs started during my childhood. There were always animals in my parent's home as I was growing up. I started by teaching my dogs basic commands and simple tricks. This close bonding motivated me to try to learn more about dogs.
I read everything I could get my hands on and I was lucky to meet a Pit Bull trainer/breeder who took me under his wing and encouraged my passion for dogs. I spent a few years with this trainer learning about dog behavior, training techniques and animal physical conditioning.
Many years later, my curiosity for dog behavior made me decide to go through formal education and certify as a professional dog trainer. I obtained my certification through the Mexican Canine Federation, a recognized member of the FCI, Fédération Cynologique Internationale. Throughout the years I have attended seminars and workshops with many different training techniques, training tools and dog behavior, soaking up knowledge. But my greatest learning influence comes from the dogs themselves and the daily interaction with them. My understanding of animal behavior comes not only from the wide variety of dogs I have trained through the years but from the ones I have owned myself: Boxer, Pit Bull, Siberian Husky, Alaska Malamute, Rottweiler, Drogue de Bordeaux, Giant Schnauzer, French Poodle, Dutch shepherd and Belgian Malinois.
I am a member of the North America Ring Association, an organization that regulates French ring sport in America, a dog sport. I am a disciplined competitor, trainer and a certified decoy for this organization. I have competed at high level national events with two of my dogs: Springfalls Rex and C'Tosco des Barriques.
I am the Training Director for the Southern California All Breed Ringers Club, a group that trains and competes in French ring sport on a competitive level, for about 4 years. I am committed to helping my fellow club members compete in this difficult sport.
I consider myself very lucky for being able to do what I love for a living as it is what I enjoy the most, spending time with dogs.
